Ezekiel 34:2c “‘Should not the shepherds feed the flock?’”
THAT’S THEIR JOB
That’s a pretty simple thought. Shepherds shepherd. That’s what they do. They don’t fish or milk cows. They don’t tell the priests to go out to the pasture and watch the sheep while they tend the temple. No! Shepherds shepherd.
Too many people are NOT doing what God has called them to do. In the church that is so true. People are content to sit in the pew and watch others do what they are called to do. Others get pressed into roles that are not their calling and are miserable. Which are you?
TEACHING MOMENT
When the Lord calls us, He equips us for service. The moment your child receives Christ as their Savior you need to help them discover what that calling is on their lives. But be very careful that you don’t push what YOU want to see them do. It is not up to you. It’s up to Him and them. He will let them know in due time.
And once your child discovers that calling on their life, don’t let others use and abuse them. I have seen far too many kids get over committed for good causes and miss out on their one true calling. The desire to serve can sometimes outweigh the place and time of service. Help them guard against that.
Are you being used right now to fulfill your calling? Maybe you know the Lord has called and gifted you to work with children. Contact your Pastor and tell him. I promise he will thrilled. Perhaps your calling is to teach. Study and prepare and pray for opportunities. God will give them to you. Whatever it is, do it.
