Isaiah 6:8 “Then I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, ‘Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us?’ Then I said, ‘Here am I. Send me!’”
I’LL GO
I have always loved this verse. I know what it means to me, but what does it mean to you? Does this verse scare you? Do you feel guilty because of a calling you received from the Lord that you have not fulfilled? Where does He want you to go? Are you willing to go?
Those are all good questions. The bottom line is God wants to use us to accomplish His will. He doesn’t NEED us to do that, but He prefers useful vessels. He prefers willing servants. He prefers – YOU! Will you say to the Lord, “Put me in Coach!”?
TEACHING MOMENT
I will never forget watching my kids sitting on the sideline or on the bench during games. They were so anxious to get into the game to play. They had practiced for this and were ready. Are your children ready to respond when the Lord calls them to “play”? Our job as parents is to prepare them. We are their earthly coaches. When the Head Coach calls we want them ready to respond.
Part of that “coaching” is looking for our children’s areas of strengths. Every good coach uses his players according to their strengths. For instance, in football you don’t put a 300 pound, 6’ 8” player as running back. You want him on the line protecting the quarterback. In the same way, your child is gifted for certain areas of service for the Lord. Recognize those and groom those.
So, the question has to be asked of you. What has the Lord gifted you to do? Are you doing it? Our gifts never wear out or get used up. God may shift us to another area of service, but we are part of the larger body of Christ that needs all its parts working.
