PREPARE FOR ABUNDANCE

2 Kings 4:3 “Then he said, ‘Go, borrow vessels at large for yourself from all your neighbors, even empty vessels; do not get a few.’”

IF YOU PRAY FOR IT, EXPECT IT

I just love this story.  The woman told Elisha her problem.  Her husband was dead, and the creditors were coming after her children to make them slaves to pay off her husband’s debts.  Now, that’s quite a predicament.  Elisha told her to take the ONLY THING she had in her house and give it to the Lord for Him to use to solve her problem.

But look what Elisha told her.  He said, “Go, borrow vessels at large for yourself from all your neighbors, even empty vessels; do not get a few.”  In other words, don’t just borrow two or three.  Get as many as you can.  Expect God to bless beyond your imagination.

TEACHING MOMENT

What a great story for kids.  I promise you they will love this story of God’s provision.  They may want to get all your pots and pans out and act out this story.  But try as they may, they cannot fully act this out. They don’t have the unlimited supply of oil to pour and keep pouring.

However, the lesson isn’t about the amount of oil she got.  Make sure your children understand that.  It’s about simply hearing God’s Word and trusting it. That’s the truth for today.

Are you trusting Him today?  Are you believing Him for a miracle?  He still does them.  He still works through others to meet our needs in ways we cannot expect.  Expect it! Believe it!

Lord, remind me that You know my need long before I even ask.  I know You are not going to just give to me as I want.  You will bless me according to my need.  Thank You!
