Psalm 95:1-2 “1 O come, let us sing for joy to the Lord, let us shout joyfully to the rock of our salvation. 2 Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving, let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.”
BUT LET IT BE WITH JOY
Loud people can really be obnoxious, can’t they? Some people just have to make sure everyone hears them. They are loud, but for the wrong reasons.
I love that the Psalmist says here to “shout joyfully.” We are to sing for joy, come before Him with thanksgiving and shout joyfully! Doesn’t that sound fun? Doesn’t that sound like a celebration. He is worthy of our praise.
Now here’s a skill that won’t be hard to teach to our kids. Lol. Being loud is just part of being a kid. We will, however, have to teach them how to do it with joy. Our joy needs to be directed at God, our Father and Redeemer.
The next time you are having family time in the Word, make a list of great things about God. Write down several. And then…shout them to the Lord. I promise your kids will like this and ask to do it again soon. Sing praises to Him. March into your den or living room with thanksgiving. Act out these verses.
Are you marching in thankfulness today? Are you singing praises? Are you shouting joyfully or just shouting? Take a minute and evaluate your own quiet times. These are times when you can also “act out” these verses. Have a private celebration. Enjoy your God.
