1 Chronicles 28;20 “Then David said to his son Solomon, ‘Be strong and courageous, and act; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you until all the work for the service of the house of the Lord is finished.’”
DÉJÀ VU
When my dad got up in years I would call him often for advice. Now, I admit I really didn’t need his advice on the topic I was asking about, but he needed to give it. Do you understand? My father needed to be a father. He needed to know he could still impart wisdom and advice to his son.
We see David here in front of all his leaders giving his son, Solomon, some advice. This phrase “be strong and courageous” was a familiar one. Moses had told Joshua these words, and the Lord had told Joshua the same words. They were recorded in the Holy Scriptures, and I am sure David had read them. What better advice than God’s Word>
TEACHING MOMENT
How do you give advice to your children? Do you use your earthly wisdom (which is limited) or God’s Word (which is limitless)? I recently told one of my children, “Your mother and I only know how to give you godly advice from His Word.” We parents need to ONLY give advice that is grounded in the Word of God.
Our job is to brainwash our kids! That’s right, I said that. We are to fill their minds and hearts with Scripture. They should leave our home knowing the first place to turn when they face a trial is God’s Word. This is a source they will always have. They should be taught to memorize Scriptures so that it rings through their mind daily. Brainwash may seem harsh. Maybe a better word is heartwash. Lol
Are you heartwashed? Doesyour heart beat according to the Word of God? Do His words drive you? Let the Lord God speak to you today through His Word. This advice is good Fatherly advice. You can ALWAYS trust it to be true and right. There is an answer to every issue you face right there in the Word.
