THEY JUST CAN’T HELP THEMSELVES

Psalm 96:11-12 “11 Let the heavens be glad, and let the earth rejoice; Let the sea roar, and all it contains; 12 Let the field exult, and all that is in it. Then all the trees of the forest will sing for joy.”

ALL CREATION

Have you ever wondered why sunrises and sunsets are so beautiful?  Have you ever been on the beach or on a boat and remark how gorgeous the ocean looks?  How about a view of a valley full of fields or forests?  You see, these verses tell you why.  They just can’t help but proclaim the majesty of the One Who created them.

If the heavens, earth, sea, field and forest can proclaim God’s majesty, why do we have trouble doing that?  We need to be very mindful of the view we are giving others.  Just as those mentioned above do this without thinking, we should be doing it just by being.  People should see we believers and say, “Wow, isn’t God amazing?  Just look at him/her.”

TEACHING MOMENT

The point to make to our children is that people are always watching.  The moment we proclaim Christ as Lord, people begin to watch us for signs of God’s presence in our lives.  Our children must learn to simply reflect His glory.  How do they do that?  By showing forth the character of God which is in them as a believer.  Honesty, humility, sincerity and love for others are just a few.

People, especially children, have a hard time of constantly reflecting Christ.  After all, we are flesh and blood.  But the Lord desires us to be just like the heavens, earth, sea, field and forest.  We should be doing it without even thinking.  It should just be who we are because He is who we are!

Are you reflecting glory or shame?  Are you drawing others to Him or pushing them away?  Ask the Lord of creation to create His image in you today.  Do nothing to tarnish His glory in you.  Say nothing to take away from the majesty of the Holy Spirit that dwells within you.

Father of all creation, shine through me.  Let others see You in me today.  May they all gasp in reverence at what You have done and continue to do in me.
