1 Kings 22:14 “But Micaiah said, ‘As the Lord lives, what the Lord says to me, that I shall speak.’”
SPEAK THE TRUTH
As a Pastor, when I preach I have to be so careful to speak only what the Lord would have me to say. As I prepare my message I pray that the Lord will give me the words to say. I don’t want to espouse my words. I only want His. Micaiah had been asked by the other prophets to agree with them and speak similar words. But he knew he had to be true to the Lord and speak only what the Lord said, no matter the consequence.
Have you had that challenge? The crowd is all saying one thing, but you know in your heart that the Lord is telling you to say something totally opposite. What do you do? Do you agree to save face or do you stand for truth? That’s hard. It may cost you.
TEACHING MOMENT
Your children are going to face those moments. It may be in school when a teacher or professor wants them to regurgitate some off the wall philosophy in a paper. If they do, they get the A. If they don’t they may get an F. Now that is tough. What should they do?
As a parent, you must encourage them to stand for what is right, no matter the cost. You need to be there to support them when they feel like the world is against them. Jesus warned us that the world would turn against us if we stood with Him.
What will you do? Will you stand or will you fold under pressure? Will you speak the truth or agree silently with the lies? God will give us these challenges to test us and build us. Don’t see these times as God deserting you. Instead, thank Him for trusting you to make the right decision.
