1 Kings 7:51 “Thus all the work that King Solomon performed in the house of the LORD was finished. And Solomon brought in the things dedicated by his father David, the silver and the gold and the utensils, and he put them in the treasuries of the house of the LORD.”
COMPLETION
Building the Temple was no small matter. The building itself was a seven year process, plus the construction of all the utensils. I am sure there were times Solomon and the people of Israel thought it would never be completed. But Solomon was determined to make it worthy of the Lord. No cost was spared. They say this Temple was truly a marvel to behold.
If you are a believer, God is building you right now. In fact, it is a lifetime process. God never stops shaping you into the image of Christ. At times He is taking off big chunks and other times he is using sandpaper to smooth off small areas. But the work never stops. To quote the Apostle Paul, “you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit.” (Ephesians 2:22)
TEACHING MOMENT
This teaching moment is directed more at you, Mom and Dad. God is going to use you to help shape your child. It is up to you to teach them to obey you and God. It takes years to do this. There will be days when you think you will never make progress with little Gertrude or Elroy. They are hard headed and stubborn and refuse to learn. Hmmm, I wonder how God feels about you?
Then there are days it seems everything you have taught them comes together. It’s one of those “eureka” moments for them. They finally see the big picture. That might come when they are 12, or it may not come until they are 32. Just keep thinking about how long the Lord has been teaching you.
Why don’t you allow the Lord to shape you today however He wants. The process will go a lot smoother and will be much less painful. He only wants to make you more like Him, which is perfect. I mean, come on, who doesn’t want to be perfect? Right?
