Ephesians 1:18-19a “18 I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened, so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the surpassing greatness of His power toward us who believe.”
PRAY, PRAY, PRAY!
Wouldn’t you want someone to pray this for you? 1) for your heart to be enlightened 2) for you to know the hope of God’s calling 3) for you to know the riches of His glory of His inheritance and 4) for you to know His great power. Man, I would desire those things in my life, don’t you?
Guess what? You can have all this. When we come to Christ and accept Him as our Savior and Lord, God does something to us. Our heart is changed (enlightened), we receive the hope of His calling, we become an heir of His glory and we receive His power. Wow! And all this time I thought I was just saved for eternity.
TEACHING MOMENT
Don’t you desire that for your children? Don’t you want them to have hearts that understand God’s truths? Don’t you want them hear God’s call and have their hope in Him? Don’t you want them to, not only inherit from you, but also be God’s heir? Don’t you want them empowered by God? Then teach them God’s Word. Lead them to Christ. Live a life that exemplifies the very essence of Jesus.
There is no better peace than knowing that your children are eternally secure and are following the Lord. It is one thing to know they are safe physically. That can change in a second. But when they are safe eternally that is never going to change. Sure, they may have times of wandering or questioning, but once they are secure in Christ through salvation, nothing or no one can change that.
So, let me encourage you to insert your child’s name in that prayer which Paul prayed for the Ephesians. That is still a very powerful prayer.
