Romans 3:23 “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”
A BABY?
How can this be? Can we really believe that even a little, bitty baby is a sinner? How can that little sweet face be hiding the fact that their soul is wretched? I get those questions a lot. But, if we believe God’s Word is true, then we must accept the truth of this verse too.
The fall of man in the garden ushered in our sinful flesh, and we all have the burden of sin in our lives. We fight the flesh everyday, at least I do. I have often said, “Wouldn’t it be nice to die to self once and be done with it?” Sadly, it is a daily exercise of surrender.
TEACHING MOMENT
Our children will reach that age where they are accountable for their sins. When is that? There is no magic number. I believe it varies according to their ability to understand the truth of the Gospel. I don’t mean they have to understand all the theological concepts (no one really does), but they understand that Jesus died for their sins, was buried and rose again with victory over death.
Everyday we need to be leading our children toward the doors of salvation. We need to bathe them in prayer. We need to teach them that Jesus loves them so much and wants to spend eternity with them. God loves them so much that He was willing to send His own Son to die for them.
Yes, we have all sinned. But we also can ALL receive the promise of salvation if we believe on Him. So stop worrying about it. Believe!
