Genesis 15:6 “Then he believed in the LORD; and He reckoned it to him as righteousness.”
I BELIEVE
If you haven’t read the whole story of Abraham (Abram at this point) lately, you really need to. It is quite an interesting story of God’s faithfulness and man’s faith. I mean, just look at this verse. Abram believed God, and God declared him righteous. For something he had done? No! Because he believed Him.
God promised Abram a son, one which he wouldn’t see for many years. It seemed impossible. Abram didn’t understand how God would do it. He just believed He would do it. Simple faith. God said it, so that settles it.
TEACHING MOMENT
What a great lesson for our kids. Mom and Dad, we need to show our kids how to trust. They learn this by watching us. If all they ever hear and see is us fretting and worrying, how will they learn to trust. We take them to prayer with us and give it over to the Lord. We let Him take our burdens and trust He will see us through.
It is a joy to pray with our children over things that they are concerned about. Let me encourage you to get them a prayer journal. When they pray for something write down the date and the request. When God answers, and He will, mark down how He answered and the date. This will be a treasure one day to read.
Are you trusting today? Are you believing as Abram did? He will declare you righteous also as you believe on the name of Jesus and trust Him with your life. The Lord will work great things in your life as you trust Him to work.
